How the gradient lab works

33 looks, your colours

Seven groups: light and glow, flowing colour, space (black holes, a quasar, nebulae, galaxies, warp speed), fire, VJ loops (tunnel, kaleidoscope, retro grid, light show, pulse, vortex), glass and metal, and texture. Each look paints its shapes with your colours from dark to light. Presets set both the look and the colours; Random keeps every colour in one family.

Handles and controls

Drag the round handle to move the light and the ring to turn its direction. Every handle also works with the arrow keys and has a slider in Adjust, with size, detail, zoom, balance, edges, brightness, contrast, saturation and grain.

Smooth colour blends

Colours blend in OKLab by default, so the middle of a gradient never turns grey or muddy. OKLCH keeps colours vivid, Linear mixes light like a lamp, and sRGB matches classic CSS. Drag the markers to move where each colour sits.

Loops, pictures and links

The motion repeats exactly once per loop, so a recorded video loops without a jump. Pictures are drawn fresh at full size (up to 4K and beyond); video records as MP4 or WebM where your browser supports it. The share link holds the look, colours and settings.

Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded, including images used for “From image”. Gradient colours are digital screen colours, not paint formulas. For CSS you can paste into a website, use the gradient generator.
