Image palette picker

Choose a photo, crop to the part you like and extract its main colours, or pick single pixels. Your image stays on this device.

Drop an image here or

JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF (first frame), up to 25 MB. You can also press Ctrl+V (⌘V) to paste. Processed in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

How it works

Extract or pick

Extract groups similar pixels (k-means in OKLab) inside your crop and gives their average colours. Pick a pixel takes exactly one pixel’s colour. They are separate on purpose: extraction summarises, picking samples.

Approximate shares

The percentage under each colour is roughly how much of the cropped area it covers. Fully transparent pixels are ignored; the image is reduced to at most 400 × 400 pixels for extraction.

Private by default

The image is read and processed in your browser, in a background worker. It is not uploaded, stored or sent to analytics, and its file name is not kept in the palette.

Paint colours

“Find similar paint colours” compares each extracted colour with the published catalogue. It is an approximate digital comparison; it does not identify the paint in the photo.
